doors....

Today started out as just another day. alarm goes off. forcing myself to get out of the comforts of my bed. eating breakfast. making lunch. then going in my room to get dressed and do my makeup and such. just in time to run out the door and catch the bus.

i'm all ready. about to go downstairs to brush my teeth and then leave. go to open my door and it decides not to open. i turn the knob a few more times. push. pull. every thing i can think of. call out to my mom who is sleeping to come help me. she tries, but is unsuccessful in opening my door. my dad comes and tries a few things. after all attempts have failed he goes to find a screwdriver to take off my door knob entirely. he can't find one. he is about ready to kick down my door. just then, my mom sticks a nail in a hole in the knob. it did the trick and for some reason my door unlocked. but now, there was no way i could make it to the bus on time.

my dad drops me off at school, and my friends ask me why i'm so late. i tell them i got locked in my room, and they stare at me in disbelief. asking, "what happened to the good ol' dog ate my homework excuse?" it's more plausible than my real one. after some serious convincing, they finally believe and i go on with my normal wednesday.

that is what we call a bad start to the day. at least the rest turned out relatively well and normal. ttfn

hiking take 2

hiking is possibly one of the best inventions ever. and today, that is exactly what we did.

so, off we go to the heights. hiking our way up to sketch rock. possibly dying from falling off. sitting on top of the world. chilling reading the Bible. just so happen to open up to Psalm 18. the chapter about how G-d is our rock and our salvation. how ironic! i'm chillin' on top of a rock, reading about how the Lord is our rock. might i mention listening to some fabulous phil wickham, and tenth avenue north, and underoath (some will seek forgiveness, others escape). life is just plain amazing at this point.

then a clan of little kids come. all just running amuck around. pretty amusing to watch i must say. then monique and i almost die climbing down, trying to avoid those kids (okay, maybe not so much).

then running down the trail, pretending like we're flying, just cause we can. then running up a huge, steep concrete drainage thing. hardcore dancing without music. yelling, because the echo sounds cool. going back down. grabbing my musical phone and running back up, almost dying from exhaustion. some more hardcore dancing to the killers. just about as indie as it gets. then back down to end our beautiful hiking adventure.

music

so i was just thinking about how much i like music. i'm not sure how i would make it through the week without music. i mean seriously, every spare moment i get involves me listening to my zune (zike), or listening to music on my computer, or just plain bursting out in song (however off pitch it may be) and to think that G-d created it. it just makes music that much better. the thought that by singing worship and praising G-d we are getting a tiny glimpse of heaven, and how amazing it will be. to be in the presence of G-d. i can't even imagine. i don't think i could do anything but fall on my knees in worship.

so yeah, i probably will be posting a lot of lyrics. sorry, i just can't help it:)

mighty to save

so we sung this song tonight at church, and we were just talking about how G-d is so mighty to save. hence the song: "mighty to save", by hillsong.

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me

Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

(Chorus:)
Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of Salvation
He rose & conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears & failures
Fill my life again

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender (I surrender)

(Chorus:) (2x)
Savior
He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever
Author of Salvation
He rose & conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

(Bridge:) (2x)
Shine Your light &
Let the whole world see
We're singing
For the glory
Of the risen King
Jesus

(Chorus)
You're the Savior
You can move the mountains
Lord You are mighty to save
You are mighty to save
Forever
Author of Salvation
You rose & conquered the grave
Yes You conquered the grave
